U. S. Bicycledirectory.com Lists places to ride
A new site UnitedStatesBicycledirectory.com has been set up to offer lists of places to ride. In it’s beginning not much is there but it seems to be filling out day by day with new places to ride. Someday it may become a great place to go to find trails and roads that are great for cycling.
Ontario BicycleDirectory Growing Fast
Looks like lots of people are actively posting free listings on the Ontario Bicycledirectory website. Amazing how fast a site can grow with user provided content. If you looked at the Ontario bicycledirectroy site today it is so full you would think it had been there for years, but according to this post it has only been a couple of months.
We are happy to annouce the launch of the Ontario Bicycle Directory website. This site features a post-it-yourself directory of Ontario Bike Websites. Topics include Bike Stores, Repairs, Events, Trails, Manufacturers and Suppliers.

The is a way cool site that brings in rss feeds from all over related to cycling.The purpose of the site is to bring in people who are interested in extreme sports and then inform them about the bicycledirectory at in hopes they may use the search engine to find retailers which are listed at bicycledirectory.com.

New site promises to be the directory of bicycle directories - Includes information about bicycle directories on the web, big list of bicycle clubs organized by state.Also lists of forums and blog posts.
Canadian versions of BicycleDirectory.com Launched
The sites I mentioned in my last post applied to the United States bicycle directory sites. For Canada we have the Onterio version of Bicycledirectory.com but its also one thing the really makes this site better is the short paragraph descriptions so you do not have to go to the actual site to get a sense of what the shop is about. So far I have found two Canadian bicycle directories. Ontario Bicycle as seen below and ottawabicycledirectory.com which just lists the names and contact information with the shops. Onterio bicylce directory does a far better job. So this site was very much needed and a major improvement over the Ottawabicycledirectory.com. Unfortunately, none of the Canadian versions use a database for searching like Bicycledirectory.com which only serves the US.

Finding parts on bicycledirectory.com & bicycleshops.us
It’s Christmas day and I had a very marry one indeed. Hope you did too. Hope that special someone gave you some great gear for your next ride. The truth is however, most of our friends who know we are into cycling might go for the obvious like a new helmet or bike clothes, but are very unlikely to get something specific like new pedals, rims, handle bars ect. They probably have no idea we are even thinking about getting new handle bars or rims. The ones we have seem fine to them. So when it comes to making improvements on your bike as the old saying goes “if it has to be it’s up to me”.
Bike parts can be very specific and hard to find so I’m blogging about how to go about searching for the parts you need and introduce you to some strategies for finding the parts you need and getting a good deal on them. Feel free to add suggestions in the comment area.
There are a couple of search engines that I recommend.
This is database style directory that allows you to enter the information on the parts your looking for and the geographic area. One problem with this type of search is that if your too specific about the area then you get zero results. So if your looking for a rare part, then you want to keep the geographic area set to “all”. Most bike retailers are willing to ship so this site is best if it’s not absolutely necessary that they are local. Bicycledirectoy.com has over 7800 retailers listed. It’s big and specific.
Is a old fashioned bicycle directory that breaks everything down geographically. First state then city. It’s great for looking at retailers in your area. One thing I really like about bicycleshops.us is that when you get to the city level they have the most links direct to the websites of the bicycle shops. So if you want to see the websites of the bicycle shops in your area this is a great way to find them.
